NATIONAL PARK OF ANDAMAN AND NICOBAR

Mount Harriet National Park


Mount HarrietThis is the highest point of Andaman & NICOBAR . This place was the famous pick nick place of erstwhile British officers staying in these Islands. 

From main island Port blair side vehicle ferry service starts from Chatham jetty to Bamboo flat. Per person ferry service fee is Rs 4 ( four only ) and the duration is nearly 20 minutes. From Bamboo flat jetty it is 10 minutes drive by the side of sea & then climbing upto the forest check post. From Bamboo jetty to Check post is 7 KM and from check post to 



park ( Mount Harriet ) is 3 KM distance. Check post is located inside forest and after climbing hills and passing through sharp U turns we reached the check post. Here we paid our entry fee and purchased camera tickets. 

Entry fee for Indian nationals Rs 25 and children 12 years and below Rs 10 per person. For students it is Rs 5 and for foreign students it is Rs 10. All foreign nationals have to pay Rs 250 per day per person. The fees are collected at the check post. Vehicle entry fee is Rs 20. For heavy vehicle it is Rs 50. 

Professional photographer can carry their gadget by paying Rs. 200 and for film shooting it is Rs 3000 . For tourists still camera is Rs 10 and video camera it is Rs 25 

There are view points in different directions at the park, in one of the view point direction is marked to show different islands with direction mark. Ross Island, North Bay & havalock Inside the park there are Huts and one trekking track starts from here. Details of the trek is written in a board. You can enjoy a cup of tea here prepared by guest house kitchen. 
 
From Portblair the total duration including the sea crossing it will take 2 to 3 hours to visit Mount Harriet National Park and return.
